#ImWearingRI | Summer Dresses

You’d be forgiven for pinching yourself a lot recently. You wake up in the morning and it’s sunny. Lunch breaks are spent soaking up as much Vitamin D as you can in sixty minutes. And after work drinks are spent on a rooftop watching the sunset. Is this real life? Or just a really long heatwave?

And while we’re definitely not complaining about the temperature, our wardrobes on the other hand are a different matter. We’re fully equipped for the winter months with jumpers and knits galore, but when it comes to summer dresses, we’re coming up short. No pun intended. From maxi and midi dresses to printed and white dresses, this heatwave is the PERFECT excuse to do some dress shopping. Need a little inspiration? Don’t sweat it – these babes are showing us how it’s done, and they’re all wearing RI…

Maxi dresses are the epitome of summer, aren’t they? Long enough to cover up but still keep you cool in the scorching heat. A striped maxi dress in sunshine yellow is all you need to stripe it lucky this summer and add the finishing touches with straw accessories.

When it comes to dressing for SS18, floral dresses are our type on paper. A Bardot maxi dress is the piece to pack if you’re heading off to somewhere tropical or wear at the weekend if you’re staying put in the heatwave. Add white mules and sunglasses and contrast colours with a pink backpack.

Button midi dresses are kind of having a moment. The piece to see you through from 9am meeting to 9pm cocktails, style up with a straw hat and white heels and add a matching bag to hold your everyday essentials.

Brighter is always better, right? Forget monochrome, it’s all about turning heads when the sun makes an appearance. Dress a frill midi dress down with sliders like Fearne or swap for heels when the sun goes down.

Stripes? Check. Buttons? Check. Enter the throw-on-and-go dress you’ll be wearing all season. Wear with block heel mules and an oversized shopper bag for a weekend of brunch dates and shopping, of course.

Florals and frills always get our vote when it comes to looking cute. Wear with caged heels and a boxy bag for date night or dress down with trainers and a simple necklace for smart casual done right.

When it comes to print, leopard is failsafe and our personal fave. A plisse (the micro pleat we're all loving) midi dress and belt adds a chic twist to dressing for the office. Finish with black sandals, sunnies and a clutch bag and let the compliments roll in.
